'Don’t wait for a perfect opportunity; just start' – Sincerely Accra podcast host to potential creatives

Sincerely Accra host Joseph Nti

Co-founder and host of the Sincerely Accra podcast Joseph Nti has encouraged people to actualise their ideas irrespective of their personal limitations and how unsophisticated their technological devices may be.

Nti spoke on The Big Show on Class 91.3 FM, Saturday, August 12, 2023.

“The world is now in the palm of your hands, so if there’s anything you want to do or you believe you can do, don’t wait for a perfect opportunity. Just start,” Joseph Nti said.

He cited how his popular podcast started as bolster.

“When we came up with the idea of the podcast, we did not have certain equipment, we started without video. We only started doing video about a year ago because globally podcasting is moving to video," he said.

He stressed: "Perfect conditions will never exist. Believe in yourself and start."

He noted that "now when you put something online it is far-reaching, you know - we're in a global village now".

As buttress, he cited "the success of Black Sherif and Gyakie; they've transcended Ghanaian stages. Now they are everywhere".

"I think young people need to take advantage of how interconnected we are right now and just begin anything that you want to do," he observed, encouraging: "As long as you're consistent, and you put in the passion, hopefully you'll be rewarded - if it's not illegal - you'll be rewarded. Hopefully."

Nti said Sincerely Accra is new on YouTube and their "views and subscribers [are] not very encouraging but I understand it's early days".

Nana Kwesi asked then what keeps the team encouraged in view of challenges like he had stated.

"We have fans, I'm not even going to lie to you. When we go out, people see us [and say things like]: 'Oh my God! Your podcast, when I am down I listen to it, it makes me laugh'. Apparently, I am funny. I do my best," he said and laughed.

Nti clarified that the Sincerely Accra podcast team also is affected, on an individual level, by the regular human challenges including the pressures of the "economy" but "even when I am down I remember someone that somebody told me that: 'Chale, I listen to your podcast to survive'. It just keeps us going".

Ultimately, "it's the love," he stressed. "If nobody showed us love, maybe we wouldn't be here."

Host Nana Kwesi Asare had wondered how the youth could utilise their time and opportunities.
