GMMB inaugurates new governing board to strengthen Ghana’s cultural heritage
The Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) has inaugurated a new governing board, chaired by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Miss Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who called for strong leadership and renewed commitment to protecting Ghana’s cultural and creative legacy.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister urged the board to uphold the highest standards of accountability and to align its work with national priorities aimed at preserving and promoting the country’s museums, monuments, and cultural assets. She expressed confidence in the appointees and extended gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for approving the nominations.
Board Chair Michael Attipoe pledged the board’s readiness to deliver on its mandate, assuring stakeholders of a proactive and collaborative approach to cultural preservation.
The event also featured the swearing-in of Mr. Anthony Obeng Afrane as Chair of the Creative Arts Agency Board, highlighting the government’s broader efforts to strengthen arts, culture, and heritage institutions.
