Commendation from music star Stonebwoy “has catapulted me to another level,” entertainment pundit MC Portfolio has said.

He spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo.

Portfolio explained when he accompanied rapper and singer King Paluta to receive his Best New Artiste award during the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs), he was pleasantly shocked to receive a request from Stonebwoy to come with him up the stage during his acceptance speech for the Artiste of the Year accolade.

“Please, if God grants grace and things go as we hope for, I’d like for you to come up stage with me to receive the Artiste of the Year award,” Portfolio said, revealing Stonebwoy’s words on the night.

“He threw a spotlight on me. That 60 seconds or one minute has, also, catapulted me to another level. It has reflected in my numbers, my acceptance, my career, and the quality of people I meet now. And if he doesn’t know, there are people who admire that Stonebwoy brand who are quality people – you meet them and money and opportunities follow. And these are people I’m meeting because Stonebwoy told the world that I was one of the reasons for his Artiste of the Year 2024 victory.”

Portfolio emphasised the gesture from Stonebwoy was “more than receiving gold,” and he was “forever grateful for that opportunity”.

The Kumasi-based MC underlined before he advocated for Stonebwoy’s Artiste of the Year victory, he did not have a “personal relationship” with him.

“But because of what he had done in 2024, I refunded monies back to clients from three weeks earlier – even some of the clients are still disappointed today – and relocated, fly to Accra to argue for his win.

He revealed he had previously advocated for KiDi and Black Sherif’s Artiste of the Year victories but “these were not penetrating” the larger market beyond Kumasi. Having in mind to capture attention in the capital city of Accra, with a relocation plan in mind, he argued for Stonebwoy’s win and struck gold.

For the 2025 TGMAs, MC Portfolio is campaigning for King Paluta to win over other favourites like King Promise and Stonebwoy, in a category occupied by Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke, Team Eternity Ghana and Joe Mettle.
