Mzbel breaks silence on Fire Oja arrest, insists police action was lawful and justified
Ghanaian musician Mzbel, known in private life as Nana Ekua Amoah, has issued a firm clarification to address what she describes as false claims being circulated by Prophet Fire Oja following his arrest over alleged defamatory remarks made against her.
In a statement released to the public, Mzbel confirmed that the pastor was formally invited by the Ghana Police Service, arrested, and interrogated in connection with statements he allegedly made about her, which she describes as false and damaging.
According to the musician, during the police interrogation, Prophet Fire Oja admitted that he did not know her personally and acknowledged that his public comments were wrong.
She revealed that the pastor has since been charged, with the case currently being processed for court.
Mzbel further explained that the pastor was granted bail in line with standard police procedures and is expected to appear in court when officially scheduled.
She stressed that any claims suggesting that he was never invited, arrested, or questioned by the police are “untrue and misleading.”
The award-winning artist emphasised that her decision to involve law enforcement was not driven by malice, but rather by the need to protect her reputation, integrity, and mental well-being.
She noted that every citizen has the right to seek legal redress when their character is attacked or falsehoods are spread about them.
Mzbel also used the opportunity to remind the public of the role of the Ghana Police Service, stating that the institution exists to serve and protect all citizens, regardless of their social status or influence.
“You do not need power, money, or status to seek justice,” she noted, encouraging individuals who are defamed or falsely accused to report such matters and allow the law to take its course.
She concluded by reaffirming that justice is a right and not a privilege, while expressing gratitude to the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism and to members of the public who continue to stand for truth and accountability.
