Ground Up, Chale v Kwesi Arthur: Kweku Flick now understands rapper's silence over collaborations, offers support
Rapper Kweku Flick has revealed that he was once deeply concerned that fellow rapper Kwesi Arthur’s silence over potential collaborations was due to personal dislike, before later realising that professional and personal hurdles were to blame.
In a post on X on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the Messiah hitmaker explained that he now understands Kwesi Arthur was constrained by clauses in his former contract with music company Ground Up, Chale.
Flick expressed admiration for the Tema-born rapper, describing him as a generational icon and offering him emotional support amid his current challenges.
“I now understand why all our collaborations couldn’t happen, I have been worried about this for a long time. Was asking myself ‘why why why doesn’t he like me’?? Not knowing it wasn’t his fault!! I love you @KWESIARTHUR. If God says you’re the chosen one, who be man? Don’t ever lose your mind my brother. Stay strong, your mental well-being matters, and I’m always here if you need me,” Kweku Flick wrote.

The post follows a disturbing message shared a day earlier by Kwesi Arthur, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in which the US-based Ghanaian rapper accused Ground Up, Chale and its founder, Glen Boateng, of “constant threats and manipulation”.
Kwesi Arthur alleged that he was being asked to pay US$150,000 for “using images of myself” for his upcoming independently released album titled Redemption Valley. He stated that his professional relationship with Ground Up, Chale ended with the release of the Son of Jacob album on April 22, 2022.
“I have not made a dime from any of my music within the period I worked with them for years now, and receive constant threats and manipulation from Glen who is living off of my money and hard work,” the rapper alleged.
He further claimed that Glen Boateng is “working constantly around the clock for me to never put out music again,” adding that he could no longer remain silent as the situation had “affected my wellbeing and mental health greatly”.
“For the safety of myself and my family I choose to publicly share the truth,” Kwesi Arthur concluded.

The Fefe Ne Fe hitmaker’s post has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s music industry, reigniting debate about the fairness of music contracts and the need for young artistes to exercise caution when signing deals early in their careers.
Several industry players have publicly rallied behind the rapper. Medikal posted, “Leave Kwesi Arthur alone!” while YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon wrote, “Free Arthur.”

Glen Boateng has yet to respond publicly to the allegations. However, industry sources suggest that he and Ground Up, Chale are only enforcing contractual clauses with Kwesi Arthur, despite the end of their working relationship.
For the Redemption Valley project, Kwesi Arthur reportedly used images dating back to his time with Ground Up, Chale, including photographs from a BET red carpet appearance. The artiste was notably nominated for a BET award in 2018.

Meanwhile, fans who have already purchased Redemption Valley have taken to social media to praise the project.
“I’m just here vibing to Kwesi Arthur's Immigrant [song] with my friends,” IDC Israel 2 wrote on X.
Another listener, Chop ROG, also commended the release, stating, “Kwesi Arthur delivered a solid tape. The interlude cracked me up so bad.”
