I don't write all my songs – Empress Gifty explains her creative process

Gospel star Empress Gifty has revealed the songs in her catalogue, which include multiple hits, were not solely written by her.

"I don't write all my songs," she said.

Noting that she does write some of her songs, she disclosed: "I have songwriters who, by God's grace, have that gift."

Guesting on the No.1 Gospel Showbiz with Taller Dee, on No.1 FM, 105.3, Friday, July 7, 2023, she explained how she collaborates with these writers.

"They write the songs and I do it on my own because I have a peculiar way that I sing," she said.

"I sometimes tell them the word that God gives me for the year," she said, citing: "For example: 'I will settle your case', 'It's time for me to favour you', I may have to speak about grace, God may want me to speak about blessings, so I will just give [the writers] the word, they go [work] around the word I've given them and when they bring the song, I sing it as Empress."

She noted that there are numerous ways through which God may give a person "a word" which will become a song.

"It is sometimes a situation you're in," she said, mentioning that other times, songs are made out of a thankful heart after one witnesses a tragedy such as "a car knocking someone down".

Such a scene can move a person intimately, and "while unknown to everyone, within you, you're saying something and it comes out and then you use the word," as a song, she stressed.

Awieye Pa (Good Ending), written by This Far hitmaker Ewura Abena, is the latest song by the fashionista and singer called Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye.
