Kwabena Kwabena has expressed what appears to be regret for marrying in his 20s when he had come into the limelight as a Highlife vocalist and songwriter.

“I feel that at that point in life, I should have focused on my career than any other thing,” he told Vlogger Zionfelix in an interview.

“I can say that I personally played a role in stealing my own life away from me at a point,” he said, revealing that his megahit Aso was released when he was 26 or 27-years-old, around which time he became a husband.

Kwabena Kwabena said, recalling that period, “what I should have done was to focus on my career.”

He feels he allowed an “external force to derail” his “train”. 

Conceding that he was no saint himself and does not seek to paint anyone black, he confessed that due to his said distractions and bad choices, some people in his life became “casualties”.

Zion, seeking for clarity, asked if he meant he should not have married at the height of his success.

“There you go,” Kwabena Kwabena exclaimed in affirmation.

He worried over the “circumstances” under which he met his exes.

“Quote and unquote, they were fans, kind of,” he said. “They knew Kwabena Kwabena, they didn’t know George.”

The father of three, born George Kwabena Adu, reasoned that, perhaps, if his former wives had taken interest in his person aside from his fame, it is possible their “expectations and temperaments would have been different”.

The multiple hitmaker deduced that, he was also immature “some 10 years ago – quite young” contrary to what he believed “back then,” but ultimately, he thanks God because “it’s an experience”.

Kwabena Kwabena, notwithstanding the above, believes he has been divinely given a second chance in life.

“I can say that God’s gifted me an opportunity to have a second shot at [success] in my life,” he noted categorically.

In this new season, he said, he is not “taking things for granted”.
