'Iron Boy': Black Sherif's 15-song 2nd album to be released on April 3

Black Sherif is ready with a second album after his 2022 commercially and culturally successful debut, The Villain I Never Was.
The sophomore tape, called Iron Boy, will be released on April 3, 2025.
The 15-track tape features three singles: January 9, Rebel Music, and the singer and rapper’s latest chart-topper So It Goes with a guest verse from Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML. While January 9, and Rebel Music present as Hiphop anthems addressing opposition and asserting evergreen dominance, So It Goes sees the young man softened by delicate matters of the heart, employing Highlife, similar to the heart-wrenching Paradise from his debut project.
As samples of what is to be expected from the Iron Boy tape, diehard fans would find the aforementioned herald hits as assurance of familiar quality. For those who seek adventure as casual fans or newcomers, the songs still showcase the teenager who found stardom with 2021's First Sermon is aging as wine and has more surprising servings to offer from his deep cellar.
Considering the title Iron Boy, Ghana’s heritage Highlife genre, half of Sherif’s foundational sonic inspirations, comes to mind. The name is the title of a 90’s Highlife song by one of the genre’s kings, Amakye Dede. So as part of the rollout for the project, Sherif paid a courtesy call on the legend, sharing images on social media. Dede was shown as a proud fan.
The March 26, 2025, trailer for the Iron Boy hinted at some of the deservedly-decorated musician’s inner thoughts heading to D-Day. The opening scene sees a man dressed as a butler reading a newspaper which prophetically celebrating the success of the album. Later, the artiste was revealed as the lord of a castle tucked away in a lush mountainous forest sitting at the summit of the real estate's tower, curiously spotting iron elfin ears, and tactfully keeping his composure amidst boisterous paparazzi.
