Kofi Kinaata: Have Mercy hitmaker reveals how he became a pescatarian
Ghanaian Highlife star Kinaata has revealed a softer, more personal side in a recent interview, sharing his deep love for animals and his commitment to a pescatarian lifestyle.
“Cats are not my favourite pet; I prefer dogs. I love animals so much. I used to have dogs, but due to my busy schedules, I gave them all out,” the singer said in a Hitz FM interview.
Kinaata also spoke about the variety of pets he has cared for over the years.
“I had rabbits, birds and cats,” he said.
This deep affection for animals appears to have led him to adopting a pescatarian diet.
“I can only eat fish. I don’t take meat. I haven’t eaten meat for over 25 years,” the Mercy hitmaker revealed.
The multiple award-winning songwriter's love for animals and commitment to vegetarianism show a side of him defined by compassion, discipline, and a conscious approach to life.
Kinaata’s latest release, Mercy Pt 2, features rap heavyweight Sarkodie and is a heartfelt plea to God for financial breakthrough, resonating with those grappling with life’s dizzying ups and downs.
According to Kinaata, he caught Sarkodie at a busy time in his day but the rapper assured him he would get the verse in about five hours' time. When he woke up the next morning, the verse had been sent.
“When I went to the landlord, he told me he was having s photoshoot but then I should give him five hours,” he told his hosts, Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio.
“When I woke up the following morning, I noticed he had sent me his verse. He is the one who saved the day because my fans were disturbing me for part two.”
