The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA), led by Abla Dzifa Gomashie, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have met to discuss taxation challenges confronting the creative industry.

"The meeting focused on developing a fair, human-centered tax framework that supports rather than hinders the growth of creatives," MoTCCA noted in a statement on Facebook.   Madam Gomashie emphasised the need for structures that empower young talents.

On his part, the GRA Commissioner-General, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, assured that the authority was committed to working with the creative industry for sustainable development.

Additionally, a new digital tool called Ntoboa App was introduced during the MoTCCA and GRA engagement.

Ntoboa, named after the Akan word for 'contributions', was designed to "help creatives manage their tax obligations more efficiently," the ministry explained.

MoTCCA revealed it had planned to greatly improve tax awareness within communities nationwide, and it would do so via engaging theatre and performing arts.

"The engagement marks a new chapter of collaboration between government and the creative sector to promote equity, innovation, and economic growth," MoTCCA noted.

The meeting was attending by industry figures like GTA boss Maame Efua Houadjeto, Charterhouse PRO Robert Klah, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons, Image Bureau boss George Quaye, media personality Kojo Yankson, poet and creative entrepreneur Chief Moomen Muslim, visual artist Sharon Padiki, and filmmaker and traditional leader Nana Adwoa Awindor, among others.
