Mobos Fashion arrives in Accra, bringing a new chapter of African fashion to Ghana
Mobos Fashion, the Nigerian fashion powerhouse beloved for its elegant silhouettes and unapologetic celebration of African femininity, officially opened its doors in Ghana over the weekend.
It is the brand's first venture beyond Nigeria's borders, and for founder Omobowale Irene Biobaku, it is deeply personal.
More than an expansion, the moment signals a quiet but confident shift in African fashion retail, one led by women, rooted in craft, and driven by purpose. For nearly 25 years, Mobos Fashion has dressed African women for real life.
What began in Biobaku's study has blossomed into six thriving retail destinations across Lagos and Abuja, each one a carefully curated sanctuary where women come not just to shop, but to be seen, celebrated, and styled for the lives they are actually living.
Mobos Fashion understands the modern African woman because it was built by one, someone who juggles boardrooms and school runs, cultural events and quiet Sundays, and needs a wardrobe that moves seamlessly through it all.
The collections reflect this reality: timeless cuts meet contemporary African aesthetics, modesty dances with boldness, and every piece, from flowing dresses to structured blazers, statement handbags to perfectly crafted shoes, which is designed for women who refuse to choose between comfort and style.

Accra has become the place where African excellence and Pan-Africanism come to play. For Mobos Fashion, crossing the border into Ghana represents more than geographic expansion, it is about building bridges, sharing stories, and proving that African brands can dream continentally.
"We're not coming to Ghana to be visitors," says Biobaku. "We're coming home. This is about sisterhood across borders, about showing that African women, whether in Lagos, Accra, or anywhere, deserve retail experiences that honour who we are and everything we're becoming."
Mobos Fashion is about impact. Beyond fashion, the brand is committed to elevating African retail standards, inspiring emerging entrepreneurs, and creating spaces where style meets purpose.
The Accra store will serve as a hub for community, education, collaborations, and future pan-African initiatives.
“This is more than a store opening,” commented founder and CEO Omobowale Irene Biobaku. “It’s a statement that African brands can begin modestly, grow with integrity, and stand confidently on the global stage. Ghana represents unity, creativity, and opportunity, and we are honoured to be part of its fashion story.”

Mobos Fashion’s mission is to transform what African retail looks like, to set new standards of excellence, and to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs watching from their own car boots and study rooms.
As Mobos Fashion opens its doors in Ghana, it carries a clear message forward: The Accra launch marks Mobos Fashion’s first retail location outside Nigeria and sets the tone for future growth across Africa and beyond.
