OliveTheBoy signs deal with US-based Columbia Records

Ghanaian singer-songwriter Olivetheboy has signed a music deal with Columbia Records.
The US-based record company is owned by Sony Music Entertainment.
The deal was facilitated by Columbia Records subsidiary Bu Vision Entertainment.
OliveTheBoy agreed to the deal after a three-month negotiation between him, his team and a Columbia Records representative.
It is reported that in June 2023, Abou 'Bu' Thiam, an EVP at Columbia Records and joint owner of Bu Vision Ent came to Ghana to meet OliveTheBoy and co.
Under the terms of the deal, it is reported, Bu Vision Ent will oversee Olivetheboy’s Artiste & Repertoire (A&R), as Sony/Columbia Records handles all licensing, promotion, and distribution for the artiste's creative works.
OliveTheBoy has not relinquished his relationship with his original management Loop Music, however.
Olivetheboy came to international attention after the success of his GoodSin, an Afrobeats megahit house on his 6-track extended play (EP) titled Avana.

He is the brother of music star Akon and a long time manager of rap icon Kanye West.
