Osebo reveals how he got the name Zaraman in Germany

Ghanaian fashion entrepreneur Richard Brown, sometimes called Osebo, has revealed how he got his other nickname Zaraman.
He spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM's midmorning show, Ayekoo Ayekoo, Thursday, January 11, 2024.
According to Osebo, "during the 90s when we were dressing, Zara was not a known brand".
However, everything changed, he noted, when he visited his younger brother in Germany and accompanied him to a Zara shop.
"When I went with him, I saw Zara's cut, jeans, slim fit, super slim fit, shirts and what not. I exclaimed: 'Wow! These people's style is stunning. So I started buying their things and I bought some to retail together with what I already had," Osebo narrated.
He noted the Zara items, even though the brand was unknown, became hotcake at this shop "because of the cut".
According to the fashionista, he was the one who made "a lot of people in Germany know about Zara". He said he did it by religiously wearing the brand.
Osebo confessed, before then, his respect was for fashion houses like Versace, Moschino, Gianfranco Ferré only, but it was evident to him once he saw Zara that "their cut was a different thing altogether [compared to] even the big brands.
"And this made me fall in love with the brand [and so] I kept importing and selling their items".
Notably, he recalled, anytime he shopped at Zara, he would stand in front of the shop to take a picture.
"Ghanaians, therefore, called me Zaraman," he said, adding he made Zara so popular that his customers refused to buy anything apart from it.
He had contacts with multiple Zara outlets in Germany, Spain and Italy, he said.
On how heavily he patronised Zara, he explained anytime he shopped at an outlet, "the men's section, the counter would be closed for me.
"I could hold the counter for 30 good minutes, as they note and bag my things. I remember once buying 5,000 euros worth of discounted clothing at just one shop."
Osebo the Zaraman said he receives text prompts for Zara sales on his phone, "and they allow me to go to their wholesale point where I take a stand onto which I place all the items I want to buy - this is usually not allowed to customers.
"Even my younger brother who introduced me to Zara is not allowed into the place."
