Reggae/Dancehall star Shatta Wale has announced that his inspiration Vybz Kartel will make an appearance on the remix for his new hit Street Crown.

Wale further revealed, in the Facebook post, that the remix will be out "this week," touting it as "the biggest remix".

Street Crown, track 2, from Wale's new extended play (EP) titled Voice of the Crown, is a motivational piece which has gained wide appeal, gathering close to 2 million views on YouTube alone. The song showcases poetry and lyricism which is unique in comparison to all others in the singer-songwriter and record producer's deep discography. His raw and emotive vocal performance brought the piece to a crescendo, displaying defiance in the face of abject adversity.

Jamaican music icon Vybz Kartel was first seen in a viral video performing a verse on Street Crown, showing his ready appreciation of the song. It is not difficult to see that the song's message resonated with him, and he found in Shatta Wale a special mate in music. When he came out of prison on July 31, 2024, after his 2011 murder conviction was overturned by the UK Judicial Committee of the Privy Council over juror misconduct earlier in March, and the Jamaican Court of Appeal turned down a retrial, Shatta Wale was ecstatic in his celebrations on social media.

On New Year's Eve 2024, Shatta Wale joined Vybz Kartel, a man he recognised as king and teacher, in Jamaica for the latter's Freedom Street Concert, during which time Kartel declared Wale the African Dancehall King. Later, the Jamaican would double down on his fondness for the Ghanaian and his artistry, saying in a Billboard interview that Wale was one of his favourite Afrobeats artistes, with Burna Boy, Wizkid and Tems mentioned, too.
