Jon Germain has remembered a day Reggae star Shaggy complimented him for how good he smelled.

“The day I interviewed the Shaggy, he asked for the name of my perfume. That was super cool,” Jon Germain, commonly called The Supremo, said.

The media, fashion and music star spoke to Class News’ Prince Benjamin (PB) in an exclusive interview, Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

While on his iconic Allo-Tigo show on Metro TV, he had “interviewed Shaggy, Rick Rok and Rayvon, who were all on the blockbuster album Hot Shot”.

“Charterhouse had brought them to perform in Ghana,” he explained.

The year was 2004 and in the first month.

Reliving the moment, Jon Germain said Shaggy, born Orville Richard Burrell, “was a very interesting person to interview”.

“He has multiple personalities. If he sees your worth, he opens up,” he observed, explaining: “When he started loving my questions, he changed to a very nice person…”

“Full details in my book ‘The Interview’, soon to be published,” he teased.

The Jamaican star Shaggy “was huge then. I think Angel, It Wasn’t Me, Strength of a Woman were hot then,” Germain fondly noted.

Meanwhile, the fashion icon has hinted at the release of a cologne line called El Supremo Jon Germain.

“We will outdoor two fragrances. El Supremo and El Supremo Intense,” he revealed, indicating the launch date is Saturday, September 2.

“El Supremo Intense is quiet rugged, so I guess it will fit men,” he noted, light-heartedly adding: “Strangely, my wife prefers the Intense” over “the El Supremo which is unisex”.

Without giving too much away about the ingredients, the award-winning multimedia star revealed: “El Supremo combines both foreign and local ingredients like shea butter to give you an amazing fragrance that gives you a different vibe.”

He added: “We created something that won’t be forgotten in a long time; the Intense is earthy, woody and strong, while the original is fruity, minty and wild.”

Jon Germain pointed out that the El Supremo cologne which is “for everyone who loves luxury and loves grabbing attention” poses no harm to the skin because “it is plant-based oils”.

He assured that the scent is long-lasting, touting the fragrance is “almost spiritual”.

“I’m excited,” the In My Head hitmaker remarked, optimistically declaring: “This is the beginning. We will bring more exciting colognes as we grow.”

For Germain, the advent of the El Supremo cologne brand is “God arranged”.

According to him, “early on this year,” when he broached the subject to his friend Mohamed Nuru, founder and CEO of Mac Bancy Oud Perfumes, the latter said the “partnership” had been on his mind also.

“The fragrance is inspired by the exotic African culture, the bravery of our ancestors and the relentless spirit of a true African,” The Supremo remarked.
