TwinsDntBeg underline social media, estranged friend DKB shaping their career
Consuming YouTube content is how Ghanaian international photographers TwinsDntBeg honed their skills.
They said this talking to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
“We went on YouTube, looked at some of the settings, asked questions, and now [went] to the field, called some few friends and used them to [practice],” they explained. “We kept experimenting and gradually, we were getting good at it.”
With time, “we bought necessary equipment – they were very expensive,” TwinsDntBeg noted.
They acknowledged a number of people who have helped them in their journey, citing one “who took us to a lot of places for which we are very grateful is [comic star] DKB”.
“We are not on good terms today but we are still very grateful to him for the partnership and opportunities,” they added.
TwinsDntBeg recalled “prior to that season, we started celebrity photography in Ghana, going to movie premieres and everywhere else”.
They would take photos of prominent creative arts players, post them on social media, they said, adding “and by the time they’d wake up, they’d be trending”.
This became so fashionable, they recalled “after events everyone was watching out for our pictures”.
Official photographers for Samira Bawumia, wife of Ghana’s Vice President and flagbearer for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), they highlighted how helpful their "interesting" professional name has been in projecting their work and fame.
Also, networking with multiple renowned personalities at events, “taking pictures of them, asking for their numbers, and sending the pictures to them that very night,” TwinsDntBeg said, also helped.
The celebrities, upon receiving the pictures, would post them on social media, “and tag us, after which we would also post it,” they said. “This helped us gain more attention.”
Soon, they observed, people, newspapers, and blogs, among others, were talking about the photography brand TwinsDntBeg, “exposing our name even though we were working for free”.
