'Visibly upset' Medikal calls celebrity lookalikes receiving mainstream media attention 'stupidity'

Ghanaian rap star Medikal has expressed his profound dislike for the growing trend of celebrity lookalikes receiving attention from traditional and new media brands.

In a social media video cited by Class News' Prince Benjamin, the 'Too Risky' hitmaker could be seen visibily upset in bed addressing the trend.

"...then media houses like... and some other platforms are using their social media platforms to promote that stupidity," he remarked in his black singlet. "You're supporting, with bloggers making posts saying: 'Look! This one looks like... King Promise..."

Verbalising insults, he asked operators of said media platforms "to stop the tomfoolery else..."

To the lookalikes who are gaining increasing popularity, he asked rhetorically, sucking his teeth in displeasure: "Why, won't you go and look for a job?"

Again, to the doppelgängers, he said: "The best solution – if you feel like you look like Kuami Eugene, so you feel like Kuami Eugene motivates you, he is your idol, your role model or you look like [me] Medikal and you feel like you can act like him, then find money."

"Because Medikal is always looking for money. I'm always preaching about money, I'm always telling people to grind, not to give up, to forget everybody [in opposition] and keep going hard.

"So why are you people [lookalikes] online asking people for money?" he quizzed, arguing that: "Medikal does not come online asking people to give him money via MoMo (Mobile Money)."

Maintaining the Pidgin English but switching to a more Nigerian flow, he stressed that the celebrity lookalikes should turn their attention to "grinding and hustling," to wit; finding a more meaningful job.

He again decried the media "interviewing them [lookalikes], giving them a platform, promoting them," meanwhile ignoring the fact that "everyday, artistes are dropping [releasing] songs" that need spotlighting.

"You overlook all these things and then you go online promoting people who are impersonating artistes in this country," he admonished, citing his catch-phrase "Wo gyimi no," to wit; "Look how stupid you are."

Some young adults have recently come to public notice who look and behave like Ghanaian music stars Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Mr Drew and Medikal.
