The mother of singer-songwriter Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has died.

According to Wizkid's manager Sunday Are, Madam Jane Dolapo Balogun died "around 1:30 am" on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was in London.

The late Mrs Balogun was mother to Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun also.

A Christian, she was one of three women married to Muniru Olatunji Balogun, Wizkid's Muslim father.

On Saturday, August 19, Davido, considered a music rival to Wizkid, commiserated with his fellow Afrobeats superstar.

On Twitter (X) he tagged Wizkid's account, writing: "Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo. Sadness flies away on the wings of time [heart emoji]."

Davido recently suffered the loss of a beloved family member also. He lost his son on Monday, October 31, 2022. A police report confirmed the three-year-old drowned in the the swimming pool at his father's Lagos house.
