Yussif Issaka Jajah: Researcher, oil and gas consultant appointed Dep. Min. of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts
President John Mahama has appointed Yussif Issaka Jajah as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
Upon approval by Parliament, Jajah will be assisting Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the substantive minister.
The MP for Ayawaso North replaces Mark Okraku-Mantey who served first under Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal and then Andrew Egyapa Mercer during President Nana Akufo-Addo second term.
In 2009, he earned a BSc in Accounting from the University of Professional Studies-Accra (UPSA), and is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana.
Jajah is an alumnus of the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, where he graduated in 2011 with an MBA in International Oil and Gas Management. Between 2011 and 2012 he worked as a consultant in the oil and gas industry, collaborating with MDPI and Goodwill International.
He also worked as a Research Fellow at the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization in Accra between 2013 and 2016, before venturing into politics.
The 46-year-old, a native of Bole, Savannah Region, is expected to bring his rich education and experience to his new post to shape policies and help project Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts on the global stage.
