Two years since Assin North: A reflection on justice, democracy, and renewal
Today, June 27, 2025, marks two years since the people of Assin North made a historic statement at the ballot box, reasserting the power of democratic will.
That election victory was not just a political moment, but a testament to the triumph of truth over suspicion, justice over persecution, and people over process.
After a prolonged and painful legal journey, I was fully acquitted on April 9, 2025.
This vindication reinforced my conviction that I was fighting not just for myself, but for every Ghanaian who believes in justice, democracy, and the right to serve.
Since then, I have focused on renewal of purpose, promise, and service. For Ghana to thrive, our democracy must deliver, starting with job creation for our youth.
I have championed initiatives linking young people with economic opportunities, including vocational training, enterprise development, and grassroots entrepreneurship.
As President John Dramani Mahama aptly put it, we must "reset" with results, not just rhetoric.
I also believe in the vital role of the diaspora in national transformation. Ghanaians abroad are co-builders of our future, contributing through remittances, expertise, and investment.
Our development approach must be intentional, empowering, and sustainable.
We need structures that restore dignity, create ownership, and build local wealth.
As Kwame Nkrumah said, "We face neither East nor West; we face forward."
I continue to pursue this forward-facing vision – a Ghana where service is sacred, justice is real, and leadership is accountable.
To the people of Assin North and all Ghanaians who stood with me, thank you for your faith and resilience. Let us build a Ghana that not only defends democracy but delivers its dividends.
God bless Assin North, God bless Ghanaians at home and abroad, and God bless our homeland, Ghana.
