A/R: Fire destroys hundreds of shops at Suame-Anomagye market

Hundreds of shops were reduced to ashes after a fierce fire swept through the Suame-Anomagye Market in the Suame Municipality on Tuesday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze is believed to have started in one shop before spreading rapidly across the market.
The situation was worsened by exploding gas cylinders, which intensified the inferno and caused widespread destruction.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to adjoining areas.
However, some traders alleged there was a delay in the response, which they believe contributed to the scale of the damage.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but officials say investigations are already underway.
Speaking to the media, the Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Peter Tetteh, confirmed that although property worth thousands of cedis had been destroyed, no casualties were recorded.
The incident has left many traders counting their losses as authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
