‘Addis Reckoning’: Mahama to host side event ahead of AU Assembly, spotlighting digital passport, AI and mineral value addition
President John D. Mahama, ahead of the official opening of the Assembly of Heads of State of the Africa Union, will host an Accra Reset side event in Addis Ababa.
Dubbed, ‘Addis Reckoning’, the side event is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026.
It will bring together a number of continental leaders and chief executives of private businesses and multilateral organisations.
The issues to be discussed include, among others:
- a new framework for free movement and talent circulation in Africa backed by a digital passport
- technological innovations to extract more value from Africa's minerals
- reform of global health governance and institutions
- partnerships among African countries and global south pacesetters on how to harness artificial intelligence (AI)
Joining President Mahama would be other leaders in the Accra Reset Presidential Council, including key champions of the "sovereign prosperity spheres" concept.
