Another Gonja man replaces Gonja man at GWCL

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Adam Mutawakilu, a former Member of Parliament for Damango Constituency in the Savannah Region as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), effective immediately.
Mutawakilu is replacing Dr Clifford Braimah who is also a Gonja from the Savannah Region, the region of the sitting President
The announcement was contained in a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, citing Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the President to appoint CEOs of State-Owned Enterprises.
The letter further stated that the appointment is subject to advice from the governing board of GWCL, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
President Mahama congratulated Mr. Mutawakilu on his new role and underscored the critical role of his leadership in ensuring efficient water supply across the country. He also requested a formal acceptance of the position within 14 days of receiving the letter.
Mr. Mutawakilu, who brings extensive experience to the role, is expected to strengthen the operations of GWCL during this transitional period
