DVLA suspends road fines after public feedback

DVLA officials on the road
All activities of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) Compliance Team regarding the charge of fines on motorists have been suspended.
This is effective Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
"The Authority, upon further consultation and feedback from the public, announces the suspension of this activity in order to allow for an extended engagement on the matter before reintroducing the Compliance Team on our roads,” part of a DVLA statement explained.
The Julius Neequaye Kotey-led DVLA cautioned road users to consider that while the fines on the road were suspended, all other legal obligations were biding.
“This press release does not in any way suspend the legal requirements for drivers and vehicles to use our roads,” the authority said.
