Deteriorating road to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital raises safety concerns for patients and commuters

Korle -Bu Teaching Hospital

The road leading to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, one of Ghana’s leading healthcare training institutions, has deteriorated significantly, leaving patients, hospital staff, and commuters to navigate a hazardous stretch riddled with pot-holes.

The road, a major artery to the hospital, has suffered from years of neglect, with pot-holes of varying sizes becoming increasingly deep and dangerous.

Commuters report that the rough conditions make travel uncomfortable and pose a serious risk of injury and vehicle damage.

“It’s a nightmare every time I come to the hospital,” one patient lamented.

“The road is so bad that I’m always worried about getting hurt or damaging my car.”

Hospital staff have also raised concerns, noting that the poor road conditions could hinder emergency access and negatively affect the hospital’s image.

With heavy daily traffic to and from the facility, the need for urgent repairs is critical to ensure the safety and comfort of all road users.

Calls have intensified for the Ghana Highway Authority and relevant government agencies to intervene and restore the road. Advocates emphasise that timely action is essential not only for public safety but also to maintain smooth access to one of the country’s key medical institutions in the Greater Accra Region.

Residents and hospital visitors are hopeful that immediate repairs will be undertaken to address the longstanding road challenges and prevent further inconvenience and hazards on the road.
