They are Richard Amaning, 18; Mireku Emmanuel, 17; Philip Okodie, 17; Paul Boadu, 18; and Ezekiel Boadu, 19.
The prosecutor, Margaret Kontoh, told the court on Tuesday, 14 May 2019 that further investigations based on records of the accused persons in their respective schools differ from what they told the Police.
The prosecutor, therefore, prayed the court to remand the accused persons in custody to enable the police to investigate their age records at the Birth Registry.
The court remanded the accused persons in custody to reappear on 25 May 2019.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army Basic School has since been closed down temporarily.
The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has visited the widow of the deceased teacher and has promised her some assistance from the government.
Preliminary investigations by the police showed that the accused persons assaulted the late Mr George Somuah Bosompem when he warned them to stay off his backyard garden where they have been engaging in all manner of anti-social behaviour.
Aside from that they were also allegedly stealing produce from his backyard farm.
A threat from Mr Bosompem that he was going to report them to the police infuriated the young men, who, according to the police, accosted him in the vicinity and assaulted him to death.
