An Electoral Commission (EC) worker has officially petitioned President John D. Mahama to remove the EC Chair Jean Mensa from office.

In the petition submitted on Monday, November 24, 2025, Joseph Blankson Adumadzie asked for Mrs Mensa's deputies, Dr Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey, to be removed, too.

The petition cited mismanagement and lack of transparency in the EC's operations under the leadership of the aforementioned, a trend he said threatened the credibility of the nation's electoral integrity. He accused Mrs Mensa, Dr Asare and Mr Tettey of cronyism, abuse of office and gross incompetence.

Joseph Blankson Adumadzie said Jean Mensa's leadership had failed to uphold internal governance standards, which had impacted morale and operational efficiency in the commission.

His petition is buttressed by Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, and, according to him, contains 12 counts of stated misbehaviour.

He said the situation at the EC demanded urgent intervention to safeguard the commission's integrity, and the nation's democracy; uphold the Constituion; and restore public confidence in the electoral body in view of upcoming elections.

EC Chair Jean Mensa and her deputies are yet to react to the strong allegations.
