Enforce COVID-19 safety protocols now – BPS
The Executive Director of the Bureau of Public Safety, Nana Yaw Akwaada, has called for the strict and robust enforcement of safety protocols by the Ghana Police Service in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
According to him, a failure by the security agencies to enforce the observance of the protocols could result in an unwarranted spike in COVID-19 cases.
He added that education was very essential in order to ensure compliance to all the safety protocols in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We must understand that if education is not as robust and pronounced as it has to be, people will ignore the warning and these are the two key things”, Mr Akwaada note, adding: “If anybody sat back and said that because the president has spoken, people were going to comply, that person may have been living in a fool’s Paradise. This is Ghana. Largely, we do not comply with such rules”.
Currently, four more deaths have taken Ghana’s COVID-19 death toll to 117, the Ghana Health Service has reported.
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count is now 18,134, after the Health Service confirmed 393 new cases.
The number of people who have recovered and discharged is 13,550.
There are 4,467 active cases.
So far, a total of 300,520 tests have been conducted.
