The Agyeman-Rawlings family has announced detailed arrangements for the funeral of the late Former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, scheduled to take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the family—together with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, the Aboatia Abusua of Mpobi, the Dwirafiesohene, and the entire Dwirafieso Abusua of Antoa—expressed profound appreciation to the public for the overwhelming sympathy and solidarity shown since her passing.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, outlined the programme for the final funeral rites, stressing that the ceremony at Independence Square would constitute the last and only official event.
According to the statement:
Funeral activities will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at Independence Square.
The official attire is black, and no commemorative funeral cloth has been designated.
The funeral is open to the general public, and mourners are encouraged to participate fully.
Security and protocol officers will be on duty to guide attendees to their seats.
No additional funeral ceremonies will be held elsewhere after the burial service concludes at Independence Square.
The family urged all mourners to arrive early and comply strictly with the directions of security and protocol personnel to ensure a smooth and orderly ceremony.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a prominent politician, former First Lady, and founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP), remains one of Ghana’s most influential public figures. Her funeral is expected to attract national and international dignitaries.
