Foreign Affairs Minister reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to regional security

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), has praised Dr. Comfort Ero, President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Crisis Group (ICG), for her leadership in shaping global conversations on peace and security.
In a meeting with Dr. Ero, the Minister highlighted the significance of her periodic publication, “10 Challenges for the UN”, describing it as a timely and practical guide that continues to influence international policy debates.
He noted that the issues identified remain highly relevant as Ghana and its partners work to revive the Accra Initiative as a credible framework for regional security cooperation.
Mr. Ablakwa also underscored the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to pursue pragmatic, bridge-building strategies aimed at enhancing peace and stability in the West African sub-region.
Reflecting on broader global dynamics, the Minister expressed concern over the resurgence of isolationist policies worldwide.
He stressed that Ghana remains determined to navigate these shifts by strengthening dialogue, sustaining partnerships, and forging new alliances — all in support of peace, stability, and growth across Africa.
