GJA prez gives New Year package to over 2,000 households in the Greater Accra Region
President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has extended a major act of benevolence to over 2,000 households in selected communities as part of a Christmas outreach dubbed “Sharing of Love.”
The donation exercise, which benefited residents of Alajo, Kotobabi Down and Newtown Down, attracted several distinguished personalities, including the Alajo Mantse, Nii Armah Ajoor II; the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus; as well as chief editors and leading figures within the media fraternity.
Speaking at the event, Mr Dwumfour explained that the gesture was inspired by Christian teachings, particularly the biblical message that God gave His only begotten Son to mankind.
He noted that Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, should serve as a reminder for people to show love and compassion, especially to the less privileged in society.
“This season should motivate all of us to share what we have with those in need,” he said, stressing the importance of selfless giving and community support.
The Alajo Mantse, Nii Armah Ajoor II, commended Mr Dwumfour for his continuous support to the beneficiary communities, with special emphasis on Alajo, where the GJA President grew up.
He praised Dwumfour’s commitment to development and revealed that the GJA President is undertaking several projects in the area, including plans to construct a lorry station for Alajo drivers.
The MP for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), also lauded Mr Dwumfour for remembering the aged and vulnerable in society during the festive season.
He described the initiative as timely and prayed for God’s blessings upon the GJA President for his generosity.
Beneficiaries of the donation, most of whom were elderly persons and widows, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Albert Kwabena Dwumfour for the support, describing the gesture as a great relief during the Christmas season.
The Sharing of Love initiative underscores Mr Dwumfour’s commitment to social responsibility and community development, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and unity that defines the Christmas celebration.
