Ghana and Zambia strengthen mining cooperation through knowledge exchange visit

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, has welcomed an eight-member Zambian delegation led by Brigadier General Chishala Mulenga to Ghana as part of a study visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the mining sector.
The visit seeks to enhance knowledge sharing and foster stronger ties between Ghana and Zambia in the area of sustainable mineral resource management.
In his remarks, Alhaji Sulemana reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between the two nations and commended Zambia’s efforts to promote responsible mining.
He highlighted Ghana’s own progress in local content development, emphasising that Ghanaians must remain at the forefront of managing and benefiting from the country’s mineral wealth.
“Our focus is to ensure that the mineral resources of Ghana are managed efficiently and that our citizens play an active role in the entire value chain,” the Deputy Minister stated.
The Zambian delegation also visited the Minerals Commission, where they praised Ghana’s regulatory framework and commitment to transparency in the mining sector.
Brigadier General Mulenga expressed appreciation for the warm reception and noted that Ghana’s experiences would serve as a valuable guide in strengthening Zambia’s mining governance and policy implementation.
The week-long study tour forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional collaboration, share best practices, and promote sustainable resource management across Africa’s mineral-rich economies.
