Bono: Police intensify patrols in Sampa following violent clashes, perpetrators to face justice

Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, has stated that the Command successfully contained the recent violence in Sampa and has since intensified patrols across the area, particularly within and around the market, to maintain the fragile calm.
According to him, the Command’s primary focus is now on identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible for both the initial disturbances and the subsequent assault on uniformed officers.
Speaking to Kwabena Bobie Ansah on the Citizen Show on Monday, 6th September 2025, Chief Inspector Akeelah assured the public that justice would be pursued with utmost diligence.
He further disclosed that the ongoing investigation is leveraging intelligence networks and eyewitness accounts to identify the armed individuals from the Sammordua and Samgba Gyafla factions who allegedly launched the potentially treasonous attack on state security personnel.
Acting Head of Communications at the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Carl Nii Anyetei Sowah, also highlighted the dangers associated with the illicit acquisition of firearms and outlined measures the government is implementing to rid the system of illegal arms.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the National Peace Council, Kwesi Boateng Yitenkyi, emphasised that the Council remains committed to promoting peace and stability across the country.
