Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK engages Ghana Union UK and Miss Ghana UK executives to strengthen diaspora collaboration
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Zita Benson, has held a productive meeting with the President and executives of the Ghana Union UK Association to explore collaborative strategies aimed at improving the welfare and engagement of the Ghanaian diaspora community in the United Kingdom(UK).
During the meeting, the High Commissioner outlined her programme for the diaspora and briefed the Association on key steps taken within her first two weeks in office to enhance consular and community services.
“We discussed how best to collaborate to make our diaspora community better,” H.E. Benson said.
“I also shared the progress we’ve made so far in improving our services and deepening engagement with Ghanaians in the UK.”
The discussions emphasised stronger partnerships between the High Commission and diaspora organisations to promote cultural unity, social support, and investment opportunities that benefit both the Ghanaian community abroad and the nation at large.
Earlier, H.E. Benson also met with the founder and executives of Miss Ghana UK, one of the longest-running Ghanaian cultural initiatives in the diaspora.
The team briefed her on the foundation’s 25-year contribution to education, mental health awareness, and charitable donations to Ghana.
Commending their efforts, the High Commissioner encouraged the Ghanaian community to continue supporting initiatives that celebrate culture and empower the youth.
She also highlighted the upcoming Miss Ghana UK event scheduled for October 18, describing it as “a great cause” and an important platform for cultural diplomacy.
The series of engagement forms part of H.E. Benson’s broader agenda to strengthen ties between the High Commission and Ghanaian organisations across the UK, ensuring a more connected, informed, and empowered diaspora community.
