Gov't to begin clearing road contractor arrears this month – President Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has announced that government is set to begin clearing arrears owed to road contractors this month.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Council of State at the Jubilee House, President Mahama said the move was aimed at getting contractors back to their project sites to resume stalled infrastructure works across the country.
He revealed that the Ministry of Finance, led by Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, had made specific budgetary allocations to facilitate the payments and reduce a significant portion of the outstanding debt.
He added that Dr Forson was prioritising these disbursements as part of government’s broader strategy to fast-track infrastructure delivery and support the country’s ongoing economic recovery efforts.
President Mahama also assured the council that following the presentation of the mid-year budget review, the government will engage them once again to reflect on progress made and consult on the way forward.
