Interior Minister meets Lebanese security officials to deepen bilateral cooperation

The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, on Monday received a delegation of senior Lebanese security officials at his office in Accra to discuss enhanced cooperation between the two countries.

The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen collaboration in combating transnational crimes. Discussions focused on tackling cyber fraud, drug trafficking, money laundering and other emerging security threats affecting both nations.

The Lebanese delegation was led by Ali Samih Jaafar, Consul General of Ghana in Lebanon.

Other members included Brigadier General Morshed El Hajj Sleiman, Deputy Director of State Security in Lebanon; Colonel Ayman Machmouchi, Head of the Drug Repression Bureau; and Lieutenant Colonel Salah El Hajj, Head of the Office of the Deputy State Security.

During the meeting, both sides explored practical ways to foster closer collaboration between Ghanaian and Lebanese security agencies to enhance intelligence sharing, capacity building and joint operations.

Mr. Muntaka emphasised that the fight against transnational crime requires strong international partnerships, noting that sustained cooperation between nations remains critical to ensuring safety and security.

 

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of Ghana and Lebanon to work together in addressing shared security challenges and strengthening diplomatic ties.
