Interior Minister receives Gbiyiri mediation committee report on inter-communal conflicts
Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Ghana’s Minister of Interior, has received the final report of the Gbiyiri Mediation Committee, which was tasked with resolving longstanding inter-communal conflicts in the Sawla–Tuna Kalba area.
The report was formally presented by the Committee’s Chairman, Emmanuel Bombande, who highlighted its potential to foster lasting peace, social cohesion, and cooperation between the Gonja and Lobi/Brifors communities.
Minister Muntaka thanked the committee for their dedication and hard work in producing a comprehensive roadmap aimed at rebuilding relationships, promoting tolerance, and restoring harmony in the Gbiyiri community.
The Gbiyiri Mediation Committee was established in September 2025 to identify practical measures for peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution between the involved communities.
Its recommendations are expected to guide local authorities, traditional leaders, and stakeholders in implementing sustainable peace initiatives.
Mr. Bombande also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, the Interior Minister, the Overlord of Gonja, and other key stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout the mediation process.
The submission of the report marks a significant step toward consolidating peace and stability in a region that has experienced intermittent inter-communal tensions over the years.
