The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has increased the monthly wages of sweepers from GHS250 to GHS800.

The decision was announced by Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who said the increase is intended to improve the welfare of sanitation workers and motivate them to keep the city clean.

The mayor acknowledged the important role sweepers play in maintaining environmental sanitation and said the previous wage was inadequate.

He expressed hope that the increment would improve morale and encourage greater commitment to keeping Kumasi clean.

The announcement forms part of the assembly's broader efforts to improve sanitation across the metropolis.
