The Assin Fosu Division of the Forestry Commission has condemned the Assin South District Assembly over the eviction of 13 members of staff from their official residences at Assin Andoe to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour Economy Model Market.

The Deputy Manager of the Assin Fosu Forestry Commission, Vitalis Tang, said the affected staff have been left homeless, with their belongings scattered following the eviction.

He explained that the commission had earlier held discussions with the District Chief Executive, during which it was agreed that the staff quarters would not be affected by the demolition. However, he said that agreement was not honoured.

Mr Tang disclosed that the Forestry Commission's head office is preparing to take up the matter with the District Assembly over the treatment of its staff.

He also spoke about climate change and measures being implemented to address flooding, noting that no such incidents have been recorded in Assin Fosu and its surrounding communities.
