My entire focus is to develop Assin Central; let's put politics aside - MP assures
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, Nurien Shaibu Megyimah, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming the constituency through massive investments in healthcare, education, security and other key sectors, urging residents to put political differences aside and unite for the development of the area.
Speaking during the presentation of a large consignment of hospital equipment to the Assin Fosu Municipal Health Directorate, Nurien Shaibu Megyimah said his priority as an MP is to improve the living conditions of the people through sustainable development projects.
According to him, meaningful development can only be achieved when residents work together irrespective of their political affiliations.
He, therefore, appealed to constituents to support every initiative aimed at improving the municipality instead of allowing partisan politics to divide them.
The MP noted that before he assumed office, the constituency was confronted with several challenges, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, security and infrastructure.
He said his office has already begun addressing many of these concerns through targeted interventions and development projects.
He explained that the donation of the hospital equipment forms part of his commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that health professionals have the necessary tools to provide quality services to residents.
The equipment presented included theatre operating beds, recovery beds, labour beds, examination beds, office tables and chairs, measuring scales, cabinets, movable oxygen cylinders, notice boards, television sets, air conditioners, printers, generators, laptops, bed rests, children's bedpans, body screens and several other essential medical items.
Megyimah further disclosed that a number of CHPS compounds and other health infrastructure projects are currently under construction across the constituency and are nearing completion.
He expressed confidence that once completed, the facilities would improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural communities.
He assured the people that several additional development projects are in the pipeline and appealed for their continued support to enable him deliver on his mandate.
The MP also advised health workers to properly maintain the equipment to ensure their durability and enable future generations to benefit from them.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Municipal Health Directorate, the Assin Fosu Municipal Director of Health Services, Benjamin Amoako, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for what he described as a timely intervention.
Speaking to the media, Amoako said many CHPS compounds, health centres and hospitals within the municipality have been operating with inadequate medical equipment, making healthcare delivery difficult.
He noted that the donation would significantly improve service delivery, enhance patient care and boost the morale of health professionals across the municipality.
Amoako assured the MP that the equipment would be properly distributed to facilities that need them most and maintained to ensure their longevity.
He, however, appealed for additional support, especially in the areas of modern medical equipment, staff recruitment and expansion of health infrastructure, stressing that such interventions would further improve healthcare services in the municipality.
