Atidefe Foundation to distribute 4,000 free coconut seedlings in Phase 5 edition, urges youth to take advantage
The Atidefe Foundation will distribute 4,000 free coconut seedlings under the Phase Five Edition of its Free Coconut Seedlings Distribution Project and Youth Empowerment Forum on July 25, 2026 at Akatsi RC Park from 9 AM.
The foundation said the increase in the number of seedlings follows the growth and success of the initiative over the years. Previous editions distributed fewer seedlings, but increasing demand and the programme's impact have led to the allocation of 4,000 seedlings for this year's edition.
According to the Foundation, beneficiaries from earlier phases, particularly the 2022 edition, have reported that many of the seedlings have matured and started producing, demonstrating the sustainability of the project.
The initiative forms part of the Foundation's efforts to promote sustainable agriculture, support livelihoods and empower communities.
The foundation also announced that the initial registration for the free seedlings has closed after receiving a large number of applications. However, registration will reopen on the day of the event, July 25, from 6 AM to 9 AM, to allow additional interested persons to register and receive seedlings.
The event is expected to bring together traditional leaders, government officials, stakeholders, farmers, youth groups and members of the public.
In addition to the seedling distribution, the programme will feature a Youth Empowerment Forum aimed at providing participants with knowledge, opportunities for engagement and community development.
Speaking to Class News, the Founder of the Atidefe Foundation, Thomas Yao Atidefe, said the Foundation welcomes support from individuals, organisations and groups that share its vision of expanding its development initiatives.
He said partnerships are important to increasing the Foundation's reach and impact.
Atidefe encouraged farmers, young people and members of the public to participate in the Phase Five edition and take advantage of the opportunities available.
On education, he said the Foundation also awards full scholarships to brilliant but needy students admitted to universities in Ghana.
According to him, the foundation awarded full scholarships to five students last year, who are currently studying at the University of Ghana and the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
He encouraged young people to take advantage of the Foundation's programmes to improve their lives and create better opportunities for themselves and their families.
