Mahama leaves for Addis Ababa to participate in 39 th Assembly of Heads o State

President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

During the summit, President Mahama is expected to lead and contribute to a series of key engagements on issues including reparations, gender equality, and financial inclusion, as part of efforts to advance the Union’s development and governance agenda.

As part of his schedule, the President will also co-host several high-level side events and is set to organise a breakfast meeting on Saturday focused on the government’s Accra Reset initiative, themed “Addis Reckoning.”

Beyond the main sessions, he will hold bilateral talks with fellow African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations, and take part in an Italy–Africa Forum aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and partnerships between the two regions.

 

Accompanying him to Addis Ababa is the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will attend the summit of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), where discussions will centre on development and social welfare issues affecting women and children across the continent.
