March 6: National Independence Day celebration moved to Jubilee House

Ghana's 2025 Independence Day celebration will take place at the Golden Jubilee House, the seat of government.
This breaks the tradition of the ceremony taking place at the iconic Black Star (Independence) Square in Accra, and the recent regional rotation of the venue made popular during President Nana Akufo-Addo's eight-year tenure.
According to a statement from President John Mahama's office, the 2025 celebration of independence will be "a scaled-down commemoration" which will take place "at the national and district levels only.
"There'll be no commemoration at the regional level."
"The regional ministers are to ensure that MMDAs sclae down the commemoration in their districts," the statement directed.
"The scaled-down national celebration will take place at the forecourt of the Presidency," the statement underlined.
It explained, "There will be no parade or march past of security agencies and school children during the national celebration."
The February 12, 2025, statement noted, "Other activities approved by the president are the 28th February Crossroads Shooting Incident and the President's Special Awards for Children."
