The Lordina Foundation, led by First Lady Lordina Mahama, has inaugurated an ultramodern maternity and children’s ward at Asukawkaw in the Oti Region to enhance access to quality maternal and child healthcare services.

The newly completed facility is expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery for women and children in Asukawkaw and surrounding communities, where access to specialised maternal services has often been limited.

At the opening ceremony, Mrs. Mahama underscored the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, particularly mothers and children, through targeted health and social interventions.

She noted that improving maternal healthcare infrastructure is critical to reducing complications during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as lowering maternal and infant mortality rates.

The ultramodern ward is equipped to provide safe delivery services, postnatal care, and pediatric support, easing the burden on existing health facilities in the area.

Community leaders and health professionals welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.

They expressed optimism that the facility would help bridge healthcare gaps in the Oti Region and provide a safer environment for expectant mothers and newborns.

The project forms part of the Lordina Foundation’s broader agenda to promote health, education, and social welfare across Ghana.
