Police arrests, cages NDC’s Ofosu-Ampofo

News
The Accra police command has arrested the National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

Information gathered by ClassFMonline.com indicates that he was picked up in the afternoon of Tuesday, 11 June 2019 and subsequently whisked away to his house for a search.

The arrest is believed to be linked to kidnapping and arson cases over which the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) extended an invitation to the politician about a few weeks ago.

His party, however, made sure he did not honour that invitation.

A few days ago, the party’s Communication Director, Mr Kakra Essamuah issued a statement in which he claimed that the party’s intelligence indicates that the police planned to arrest Mr Ofosu-Ampofo in a disgraceful manner.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo is currently standing trial on two counts of conspiracy to cause harm and assault against a public officer after a voice resembling his was heard on a leaked tape inciting the party’s communicators to launch verbal attacks on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa and the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Prof Emmanuel Asante.
