The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has denied reports circulating in the media claiming that Angela Attieh, formerly known as Angela List and CEO of Nguvu Mining Limited, had been arrested and granted bail.

Investigations at Police Headquarters confirmed that the CID had never discussed, considered, or initiated any action to arrest Ms. Attieh.

The reports, according to the police, are therefore “totally false and misleading.”

The Supreme Newspaper, one of the outlets that published the allegations, has since issued an apology and retracted the story.

The retraction follows a ruling by the National Media Commission (NMC) on November 17, 2025, in response to complaints filed by Adamus Resources Limited, directing the offending media outlets to retract their “misleading and damaging publications” and apologise to Ms Attieh and her company.

Angela Attieh’s legal representatives, Apatu-Plange & Co PRUC, described the reports as “outrightly false, irresponsible, and a phantom of the publishers’ imagination.”

In a statement signed by lawyer Nii Apatu-Plange, the firm emphasised that Ms. Attieh “has never been arrested or detained in respect of any matter” and that the claims of embezzlement are “complete fabrications” intended to tarnish her reputation.

The statement also highlighted Ms. Attieh’s longstanding role in BCM International, which she joined in 2001 when the company was near bankruptcy.

She reportedly managed the struggling company for over four years without a salary, reviving it to a valuation exceeding $500 million.

Following divorce proceedings in 2021, she stepped back from day-to-day management but retained joint ownership.

The allegations in question had previously been raised in corporate litigation against Ms. Attieh in the case BCM International vs. Angela List and were dismissed by the court.

Her legal team condemned the recycling of these claims, calling it “irresponsible, a disservice to the public, and an abuse of media platforms.”

Angela Attieh has urged the public, business partners, and well-meaning citizens to disregard the publications, stating they are a “recycling of discredited allegations designed to injure my reputation.”
