President Mahama directs forensic audit into 13th All-Africa Games
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Auditor-General to undertake "a comprehensive forensic audit of all financial and operational aspects" of the 13th All-Africa Games.
The directive came after the submission of a report by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on the organisation and management of the games.
The forensic audit will cover, among others, the following key areas:
1. Procurement and Contracting Processes — including tendering, selection of contractors and suppliers, and compliance with the Public Procurement Act (Act 663) as amended.
2. Financial Management and Expenditure Control — examining all sources of funding, disbursements, and expenditures, including sponsorships and subventions.
3. Infrastructure and Project Delivery — assessing the implementation, cost variations, timelines, and value-for-money outcomes of all facilities developed for the Games.
4. Asset Management and Post-Games Utilisation — verifying the inventory, ownership, and current status of assets procured or constructed.
5. Institutional Oversight and Coordination — evaluating the roles and responsibilities of agencies and committees involved in the planning and execution of the Games.
The Auditor-General is expected to submit the report to the President by the second week of December 2025.
President Mahama’s directive underscores the government’s firm commitment to accountability, transparency, and value for money in the management of public resources.
