John Dramani Mahama is set to address the media at a high-level press conference on the sidelines of the African UnionSummit in Addis Ababa, where he will present Africa’s case for reparations under the theme “Ancestral Debt, Modern Justice: Africa’s Unified Case for Reparations.”

The Presidency Communications Office announced that the briefing will take place at 12 noon (Ghana time) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at AU Media Room 3 within the African Union Commission complex.

According to the notice, President Mahama will outline a continental position advocating reparative justice for historical injustices suffered by African nations and peoples, while pushing for a coordinated and unified approach among member states.

The event forms part of activities surrounding the AU Summit and is expected to draw regional and international media attention, as African leaders continue discussions on economic sovereignty, institutional reform and stronger global partnerships.

The press conference will provide an opportunity for the president to elaborate on Ghana’s stance and broader African efforts to pursue accountability, equity and long-term development through reparations and restorative justice measures.
