SR: Heavy storm washes off bridge, Bole-Sawla road and cuts off UW/R from the south

A heavy downpour in the early hours of September 17, 2023, washed away a bridge at Bole in the Savanna Region, cutting off the Upper West Region from Southern Ghana.
The washing away of the Doli Bridge close to Bole has left thousands of passengers and commuters from Southern Ghana to the Upper West and vice versa stranded, as there is no way they can reach their destinations through that stretch of road.
Savanna Regional Minister Saeed Jibril, in an interview with Class media, said engineers from the Highways Authority are on their way to assess the extent of damage and to report back to him for emergency work to begin as soon as possible.
He used the opportunity to sympathise with commuters on the Techiman-Wa stretch of the road as they will have to use the Techiman-Kintampo-Fulfulso-Damongo-Sawla road to reach the Upper West.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has disclosed that he is in touch with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, and they are collaborating with the Savannah Regional Minister on this emergency.
