Former MMDCEs to picket Jubilee House to demand salary differentials
Some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who served four years under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have served notice of picketing the Jubilee House to demand their salary differentials.
According to the MMDCEs, who were retained in the president's first term, life has become unbearable for them in the wake of skyrocketing prices of goods and services in the country.
The spokesperson for the group, Kenneth Essuman, said on Accra-based Joy FM’s 6:00 am news on Thursday, May 25, 2023, that they have notified the police of their intent to picket the Jubilee House.
He said the police are working with members to map out the modalities for the picketing of the seat of the government.
He said the picketing is to press home their demand of salary differentials while they were in government.
He noted that the government had not paid the differentials since they left office four years ago.
''We had to bury three of our colleagues last month because they were finding it difficult to make ends meet after leaving office whereas they have some money sitting with the government," he informed.
He noted that some former colleagues cannot afford routine medicines for their upkeep in ill health.
